Hello!

My name is Dorrine Davis, I am the Author/Founder of “To Your Destiny.”

Here is a little bit about who I am…

I am a mom of two kids and have homeschooled them all of their lives. Besides having a ministry, I also own a small business.

In my early twenties I attended Norvel Hayes New Life Bible College, where I was heavily involved in many different outreaches, children’s, door to door, street ministries and Praise & Worship.

I started this website / blog because I want to help people reach their true destiny, and to do so one must heal so one can see the truth and to do that, one must be able to look through the right lens. We can’t see through the right lens during hurt and brokenness. I know this because I was one who was in a mode of defense, feeling like everyone was out to get me. I couldn’t see or hear things the right way. I had to work at it and to do that, I had to be intentional to recognize it. My journey from brokenness was to face the truth about myself in order to heal. It was the scariest thing for me to do.

The first thing we think of when we take a good hard look at ourselves is, “Oh my gosh, I’m such a bad person, what will people think?” In order to heal this is the NUMBER ONE THING THAT NEEDS TO BE GOTTEN RID Of, IS… WHAT WILL OTHERS THINK! It’s a very hard thing to do at first, but I’ll tell you it’s very liberating and it brought me freedom. Healing is freedom. When we truly see how God sees and thinks of us, that’s when we can let go of what others think and walk in our trueness of who we are.

Healing takes time, it doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen perfectly. Take this to heart, I’ll say it again…IT DOESN’T HAPPEN PERFECTLY!

My Calling / Purpose

God has called me to be available each day for whomever, whatever and wherever! He has called me to the Revelational gifts: Word of Knowledge, Word of Wisdom and Discerning of Spirits. Also, the power gifts: Gifts of Healings, Working of Miracles, and Faith. and in the Vocal Gifts. (God wants us all to be available for each of these gifts…not just certain people!) I do consider myself somewhat as a writer in a few different areas as well.

Note: I can’t write and talk about things that I haven’t experienced. Experience is what empowers others to receive and believe. Someone who talks about something and hasn’t lived or experienced it isn’t going to have an effect on others as someone who actually has and is.

“Our purpose and faith are an everyday thing not a once in a while thing.”

I came to know the Lord at the age of 12 and learned more of who He was when I was 15 years old. Age 15 was when my faith walk began with the Lord. I have clung to and depended on Him ever since!

I’m a firm believer that ministry begins at home, being what we need to be for our families before we can go and be what we can for others outside of the home. I feel “REAL MINISTRY” isn’t about spot lighting all of the positive and the pretty accomplishments but is also about spot lighting the not so pretty that got you where you are and why! We can’t help each other starting out from perfection but we can from our mistakes and mishaps.

By no means am I a perfect parent, and my children can tell you that! Ha Ha! They have been and still are being raised in a home of “Real Faith”, Trusting, and Loving the Lord. They have witnessed the Lord coming through for us every step of the way on our journey. The Lord began working on my heart a few years ago about starting a page on Face Book named “To Your Destiny” Then He began dealing with me about starting a website/blog.

Joy Through the Journey

Through my journey I will share with you from my own life experiences the ups and the downs, how to stay focused, and how to keep the joy along the way. Let’s face it…we all have our moments, and we all have our little pity parties once in a while…it’s the not staying there that is important! Hey, life happens right!

My heart’s desire through TYD is to BREAK THE CHAINS OF BONDAGE AND SET THE CAPTIVES FREE THROUGH TRUTH! (Jn 8:32) I know and understand what it feels like to lose hope and for it to feel like there is no way out! From my experiences and testimonies, I want to bring hope, encourage, inspire, motivate, bring healing, and help others move forward. For those who do not know what their purpose is, to help them discover it! 

I want to bring laughter back into lives…some have forgotten what it’s like to laugh because life has been so unkind to them. I laugh at my mistakes and all the silly ridiculous things I’ve done. It’s a part of my healing process and my way of showing the enemy (the devil) that “HE DOESN’T HAVE ME!”

We are all called to have a purpose in life. Without a purpose life would be empty. If we sit and listen long enough to that quiet still small voice and pay attention to what is going on around us, it is then our eyes begin to unveil from a fog and doors of opportunity begin to arise. Some may be big some may seem like teeny tiny doors. But let me tell you about those teeny tiny doors…Those are the doors where our “true experiences, true strength and true understanding” come from! Always remember this!

How we react to things matter a great deal! Our attitude plays a huge role in how we get through the challenges of life in order for us to succeed.

KNOW YOUR HEARTACHES, BROKENNESS, MISHAPS, ARE ALL A PART OF WHAT IS LEADING YOU TO YOUR DESTINY…COUNT IT ALL JOY!
