Running On Empty

Running on empty…
As I was filling my vehicle up with gas, I was imagining having someone taking my car to the gas station and filling it up for me wondering what that would feel like, especially when it’s raining or freezing cold outside. How wonderful it would be for someone to come along one day and do that if they wanted to. Thinking about the reason behind it. When someone goes out of their way it speaks volume.
While I was thinking this, a thought about love came to me. So many people have gas tanks that are running empty on love. Let’s put gasoline and love in the same perspective. Fuel keeps a motor running, just as love keeps people running, energized and full of life. Not everyone is receiving love from someone. Without love, one could become bitter, mean and possibly draw themselves into a cocoon and fall into a deeper state of loneliness.
Open Our Eyes
Too many people today are too self-focused. They’re so focused on themselves that they can’t see the need of a person that is standing in right front of them. (As a matter of fact, I just remembered, a song that I’ve written years ago that actually goes with this “Open their Eyes”.) We need to open our eyes and look around. I don’t know about you, but when I don’t feel loved I personally have no motivation or energy to keep on going. I just want to crawl back into bed and stay there and lay around and do nothing.
The bible clearly speaks on loving our neighbor more than ourselves, laying down our lives for one another. Yes, we receive love from God on a spiritual level. But God has called us to be His vessels in sharing His love to one other through our giving, reaching out and touching a life through a physical way of means.
Love Gives and Never Stops
Love gives us energy; vitality and it gives strength and power that enables us to move forward and give the same way to others as we have received. It causes us to beam and shine. When we shine, we draw others into the light. LOVE GIVES AND IT NEVER STOPS! Love helps others and is not selfish. (1 Cor 13) When we become selfish, there is no desire to help others. Love cannot be present, we hurt ourselves more than the person that needs it! Because it cheats us from what we would receive from giving through love.
Notice I said giving through love. Giving through love is different than giving from selfish motives, it’s not the same thing. There is a temporary fulfilment from selfishness than giving from a loving heart. From a loving heart there is a satisfied, gratifying fulfilment.
Keeping Ourselves Fueled Up
Did you know that not only does love fuel us when we receive it but it all the more fills us when we give it! Love has to run both ways, in giving and receiving! We cannot survive without love. Everyone needs a touch of a hand, everyone needs to be spoken to, everyone needs help in some way, everyone needs everyone, we need Jesus (who is love) and He needs us.
Without the sun there would be no life or growth of any kind. Without the son of God there would be no life or growth of any kind! As a believer we must keep ourselves fueled up with love by spending time in God’s word so He can grow us and speak to us through giving our time to Him… this is where the magic comes in. We begin to feel His love and we begin to open up and receive from Him, then we can open ourselves up to give to others.
If we all did this, no one would be doing without! Everyone’s needs would be met…think about that. How wonderful it would be!
Wherever you’re at, wherever you go, keep a lookout for someone who may need your love. LOVE IS A GIFT AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHERISHED, NURTURED AND SPREAD. LOVE IS A WONDERFUL MAGNET.
LET’S KEEP OUR TANKS RUNNING FULL SO WE CAN FILL OTHER’S TANKS UP TOO!
